Piano Lesson

This is a true story and it will give you the chills.

This is a beautiful and touching story of love and perseverance. Well worth the read.

At the prodding of my friends I am writing this story. My name is Mildred Honor and I am a former elementary school music teacher from Des Moines, Iowa . I have always supplemented my income by teaching piano lessons - something I have done for over 30 years.

During those years I found that children have many levels of musical ability, and even though I have never had the pleasure of having a prodigy, I have taught some very talented students. However, I have also had my share of what I call 'musically challenged' pupils - one such pupil being Robby..

Robby was 11 years old when his mother (a single mom) dropped him off for his first piano lesson. I prefer that students (especially boys) begin at an earlier age, which I explained to Robby. But Robby said that it had always been his mother's dream to hear him play the piano, so I took him as a student.

Well, Robby began his piano lessons and from the beginning I thought it was a hopeless endeavour. As much as Robby tried, he lacked the sense of tone and basic rhythm needed to excel. But he dutifully reviewed his scales and some elementary piano pieces that I require all mystudents to learn. Over the months he tried and tried while I listened and cringed and tried to encourage him. At the end of each weekly lesson he would always say 'My mom's going to hear me play someday'. But to me, it seemed hopeless, he just did not have any inborn ability.

I only knew his mother from a distance as she dropped Robby off or waited in her aged car to pick him up. She always waved and smiled, but never dropped in.

Then one day Robby stopped coming for his lessons.. I thought about calling him, but assumed that because of his lack of ability he had decided to pursue something else. I was also glad that he had stopped coming - he was a bad avertisement for my teaching!

Several weeks later I mailed a flyer recital to the students' homes. To my surprise, Robby (who had received a flyer) asked me if he could be in the recital. I told him that the recital was for current pupils and that because he had dropped out, he really did not qualify. He told me that his mother had been sick and unable to take him to his piano lessons, but that he had been practicing. 'Please Miss Honor, I've just got to play' he insisted. I don't know what led me to allow him to play in the recital - perhaps it was his insistence or maybe something inside of me saying that it would be all right.

The night of the recital came and the high school gymnasium was packed with parents, relatives and friends. I put Robby last in the program, just before I was to come up and thank all the students and play a finishing piece. I thought that any damage he might do would come at the end of the program and I could always salvage his poor performance through my 'curtain closer'.

Well, the recital went off without a hitch, the students had been practicing and it showed. Then Robby came up on the stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked as though he had run an egg beater through it. 'Why wasn't he dressed up like the other students?' I thought 'Why didn't his mother at least make him comb his hair for this special night?' Robby
pulled out the piano bench, and I was surprised when he announced that he had chosen to play Mozart's Concerto No. 21 in C Major. I was not prepared for what I heard next. His fingers were light on the keys, they even danced nimbly on the ivories. He went from pianissimo to fortissimo, from allegro to virtuoso; his suspended chords that Mozart demands were magnificent! Never had I heard Mozart played so well by anyone his age.

After six and a half minutes he ended in a grand crescendo, and everyone was on their feet in wild applause! Overcome and in tears, I ran up on stage and put my arms around Robby in joy. 'I have never heard you play like that Robby, how did you do it?' Through the microphone Robby explained: 'Well, Miss Honor .... remember I told you that my mom was sick? Well, she actually had cancer and passed away this morning. And well ..... she was
born deaf, so tonight was the first time she had ever heard me play, and I wanted to make it special.'

There wasn't a dry eye in the house that evening. As the people from Social Services led Robby from the stage to be placed in to foster care, I noticed that even their eyes were red and puffy. I thought to myself then how much richer my life had been for taking Robby as my pupil. No, I have never had a prodigy, but that night I became a prodigy ...... of Robby. He
was the teacher and I was the pupil, for he had taught me the meaning of perseverance and love and believing in yourself, and may be even taking a chance on someone and you didn't know why.

Robby was killed years later in the senseless bombing of the Alfred P Murray Federal Building in Oklahoma City in April, 1995.

++ New Leader, New Hope ++

It is natural that whatever, anything, anyone, etc... "START" have it's "END"...

From the beginning as written in Genesis to the end as describe in the Revelation.... one day it will come to an end.
WHEN?
This Question makes us all worry, as time passes by we struggling every second to search for the answer. But, until now, how many have found the answer? One thing for sure the answer he/she found might not be the answer that we seek !!!!

One day all of us will become the "LEADER" until a certain time we have to "STEP DOWN", with hope that the successor will continue our "VISION" and "MISSION" also will do much much more better.

How it END?
this endding story can be group in two categories:
1. Happy Ending
2. Sad Ending
So which one from above is your selection?

Now we know that Malaysian no.1 the PM will be stepping down soon, and guess what the ending would be? Through observation, as a public.... @#$&? most probably will fall into category 1. Sad Ending.
WHY DID I SAY THAT?
because it is the feedback & respon from the rakyat, or Orang awam... People are talking about it.

WHAT ABOUT MY PERSONEL OPINION?
Stepping down from the current post (whatever it is) is actually a good sign and applies to every human being. After all the struggles & effort that one have poured into, it is time to cooldown, relax and think back of the past. After a while in silence, one should start back from the point he/she stop with a new and different approach.

i say I CHOOSE NO.1 !!!!

PM is really a good hearted person, and in fact he did a lot in bringing changes to this nation, he has "Vision" and "Mission" for the goverment and in fact to the raykat also. But, the idealism was not really carried out as planned... somewhere goes wrong!!! but he is still alive, and yet very healthy... that is good.
As we reflect back what JESUS did in his time until he was crucified... Please read the "NEW TESTAMENT"... he DIED... the worst... he is KILLED by the very person that he is trying to save.

My Hope is may this new leader to be, continue the 'IDEALISM' and the 'PURE & TRUE MALAYSIAN SPIRIT' passed down from the previous PMs.
Because if he won't - people will 'FIGHT BACK'.... and he can choose either No.1 or No.2.

Hot News

'You are wrong, i'm right!!!!' or 'you are wrong we are right!!!'

everybody, seems to get involve in one person affairs... even the top will also have his 'says'. we read all these stories from different perspective published by the dynamic and so called 'proactive' media, but the truth is still remaining mysterious, except those who are really directly involved and committedly participate in the case, 'they know', yes!!! they really knows...
and for those who had no idea 'the followers' have been fighting for something that they 'assume' to beliefs, or being told what to belive. 'MANIPULATION' instead of 'MOTIVATION'..

why BIG HU-HA!!!

This is not the time for 'PERSONEL ISSUE', we are not too concern on that, but, we are more concern on our own safety, our family our economy, our 'PEACEFUL' living, ...
- - - too many negative information spread to the people is not good,... why? because, it brings negative impact to one's mind, this creates uneaseness, anger, hateful, etc..... and lastly violence.
Tell la something good --- like 'THE EYES OF MALAYSIA'. is good what....!!!

Why don't consult the top business people pertaining to this matter?... they should know to advice what to do...

Now, everyone knows about Laws & Regulations, especially to the 'expert' ... and they say : 'According to the Law'... !!!!! bla, bla, bla,....... '

LAWs... created by human, and human are not perfect, so as the LAW is not perfect.
then, if human living 100% according to the LAW that man created, they are living in un-perfect lifes....

We should live life with loves, only then we can be together... for example; Marriage...
if we can put it in mathematical equation, it should goes like this;
'I Love U' + 'U Love Me' = Marriage.
'one' + 'one' = 'Three'
Three is a 'family'..........
Family is the results of 'LOVE' ... without love there is no family... without family, childrens are scattered...

MALAYSIA is a BIG FAMILY...... a BIG FAMILY is the results of 'PURE & GREAT LOVE'...

where are we heading now???

The Beginning

It is decided that today i'll be blogging, yeah...,
There are some people think that bloggers are loners, others think bloggers are cowards... but for those who had their mind already set like that are not bloggers. : > so they have the say!!! & bloggers will still continues their 'FIGHT'.... what they say won't kill anyone also... it will just raise a "Debate"... Even the authorities will be bloging soon....

i want a freedom to express my ideas... & opinion... After all we can't run from the current flow of people's mind development. YES, now many are "educated" , not to mentioned "Pro" or "Expert"... but why... do there still uneasiness arises? especially to a Proud-developing country!!!

When i throw a stone spinning horizontally on the water surface, it will not directly sink... you know why dont you? YOU PRO ! it dosen't matter if we did this at the pond, river or sea... we will make sure it won't sink, 'We are the one who don't want it to sink', and we will try as hard as we can to make sure the stone go far.... far... far ...

Only, when we have "LOST HOPE" everything that we've dream on eventually dies-off, and when our mind have been directed to a new "MISSON" which is not the pure, gentle, lovely dream that we used to have....... it goes "WILD, CRAZY, SEXY".......

THIS KIND OF MIND WILL NOT HELP ANYONE OR EVERYONE. STOP THAT! stop and reflect back your original GOAL... Throw everthing now, and start a new, and come mingle with us, and have a cup of "TEH TARIK"....
